This SERVICE is provided by Calmer at no cost and is intended for use as is.
This page is used to inform visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use our Service.
If you choose to use our Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The Personal Information that we collect is used for providing and improving the Service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.
The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which is accessible at Calmer unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.
Summary: What we collect, how, and how we use it
The table below summarizes the main categories of information the Calmer app and related services may collect, how we collect it, and what we use it for.
- Account and profile data (e.g. email, name, profile image, Facebook user identifier if you sign in with Facebook): collected when you register or sign in; used to create and manage your account, authenticate you, and provide the Service.
- App usage and content you create (e.g. preferences, progress in lessons or exercises, mood or wellness inputs you choose to log): collected as you use the app; used to operate features, personalize your experience within the app, and improve the Service.
- AI companion conversations: when you use the in-app AI companion, the text you send and conversation context needed to respond are sent to a third-party AI provider as described below under “Third-party artificial intelligence (AI) services.”
- Device and diagnostic data (e.g. IP address, device type, OS version, crash logs): collected automatically when you use the app or when errors occur; used for security, troubleshooting, analytics, and improving stability.
- Communications: if you contact us, we collect what you send; used to respond and support you.
We do not sell your personal information. Sharing with third parties is limited to what this policy describes (including service providers and, where you opt in, the AI provider for the companion feature).
Third-party artificial intelligence (AI) services
Calmer includes an optional AI companion feature that uses a third-party artificial intelligence service to generate conversational responses. This section explains what is sent, to whom, and your control over it.
- Who receives your data. Content you submit in the AI companion (such as the messages you type and limited conversation context needed to generate a reply) is transmitted to OpenAI, LLC (and its subprocessors as described in OpenAI’s privacy policy) so that OpenAI can process the request and return a response. OpenAI acts as a processor on our instructions for this feature. OpenAI’s privacy policy: https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy/.
- What data is sent. Typically this includes your conversational messages, session or thread identifiers we use to maintain the chat, and technical metadata required for the API (e.g. timestamps). We do not intentionally send unrelated health records from outside the companion chat unless you include that information in your messages.
- How we collect it. Data is collected only when you choose to use the AI companion and send a message.
- Uses. The third-party AI service uses this input solely to generate responses shown to you in the app. Calmer uses the outputs to display the companion experience.
- Your permission. Before you can use the AI companion, the app presents a clear explanation of third-party AI processing and requests your explicit consent to share your messages with OpenAI for this purpose. If you do not agree, you may decline and the AI companion will not send your data to OpenAI. You can stop using the feature at any time.
If we change the third-party AI provider used for this feature, we will update this Privacy Policy and, where required, obtain your consent before routing your companion messages to a new provider.
